Halifax Splits Weekend Road Trip in NB
2013-11-03The Halifax McDonalds made their first even trip to NB this weekend for inter-locking games against teams from the NB/PEI Major Midget Hockey League.
On Saturday night the Macs handed the Miramichi Rivermen their first loss of the season after a 6 - 4 win. Scoring for Halifax was Poirier(2), Nauss, Little, Dachyshyn and Doiron. Justin Ritcey made 32 saves for the win.
Sunday afternoon the Macs were in Moncton and started strong out of the gate with a 4 - 0 lead mid-way through the first period but the Flyers battled back for 5 unanswered goals and hung on for the 5 - 4 win. Marsh, Hubley, Yochoff and Jones scored for Halifax while Reilly Pickard made 17 saves in the losing cause.
The McDonalds now head home for some much needed practice and recovery. They will travel to South Shore this Sunday to play the Mustangs then return to Moncton a week from Thursday to participate in the annual Monctonian Challenge which runs from November 14-18th.
